Moving the stock!

My new favourite :la:

Also a training picture for Endurance Racing.

----------------------------------

"Let's do this!" I called out to my neighbors. We all were on horse-back and my three trained Heelers milled around Pistol's feet, ready to do their job.
I was dressed in jeans and a green plaid shirt with sleeves rolled above the elbow. I also had my black Stetson and sunnies on with my favourite boots. I was atop Pistol in my favourite stock saddle. Two water bottles hung from the horn of the saddle in cases. I had packed saddle bags that hang on the back of the saddle with a small first aid kit attached. The kit contained things like band-aids, medical sealant, a green whistle and many other thing, which I was surprised actually fit inside the tiny box. I even had my Swiss army knife, just in case, strapped to my left leg.
Today we were moving the cattle that were currently in the kennel's lot next door. We had to move them to the new owners place about 200 k's up the road. I was called on to help because of my reputable stock dogs and they needed an extra hand.
I nudged Pistol's side and he started off. The dogs started to urge the cattle forward, nipping and showing them who was boss. The big animals started shuffling forward, making the one's in front of them move too.
It wasn't long before all the stock was moving out of the gate of the paddock onto the road. On my command, Blue raced ahead and squeezed through a dog hole in the fence and barked to keep them from going right into town. The startled cattle headed left and up the dirt road towards our destination. I hung at the back of the herd to make sure no cows dawdled. Jaffa and Kiah stayed just ahead of me, keeping them all moving. Blue shortly returned to me and joined his blood daughter and his adopted daughter to show them how the pro's do it.
I called the dogs to back off a bit and they trotted along ahead of me. Blue stayed by my side.

We soon came to a paddock that we had to cut across. The dogs instantly spotted the long rusting iron troughs that held lots of water. Cows had already started to swarm it, but Blue just nipped their noses if they refused to move. After they had had a drink, the dogs returned to me, awaiting the next order.
As the stockmen dismounted for a break, I looked to my watch. We had been on the trail for about 2 hours straight and I guessed we had covered maybe 10 kilometers already. It was 10 o'clock and not even at the day's hottest and it was already 25 degrees Celsius.

Might finish later

Tried a few new things, including the GIMP 'shear' tool (which I had no idea existed :XD:)
